About MyEtherWallet (MEW)

MyEtherWallet (MEW) is a free, open source tool for creating wallets that work with the Ethereum platform. Since its initial release in July 2015, the Ethereum platform has grown rapidly. Now second only to bitcoin in market cap, Ethereum is a popular choice for many cryptocurrency investors.

When it comes to storing ether (ETH) tokens and other digital assets issued on the Ethereum platform, MyEtherWallet is a solution that is easy to use and offers a lot of flexibility.

MEW is a client-side interface that interacts with the Ethereum blockchain. Although you can easily create new wallets in your web browser with MEW, it’s not actually an online wallet. Even though you create the wallet through the web, all of your information and your funds are stored on your computer, not on the MEW servers.

MEW combines the ease of setup provided by online wallets while eliminating many of the vulnerabilities that come with storing your funds online.

In addition to being accessible in a web browser, MyEtherWallet is also compatible with: Ledger Nano S hardware wallet    &    TREZOR wallet

MyEtherWallet (MEW) can stores Ethereum (ETH) and any standard Ethereum token (ERC-20) issued on the Ethereum platform

How To Send A Transaction From MyEtherWallet Wallet?

MyEtherWallet (MEW) makes it easy for you to send a transaction. All you need is a wallet, the Ethereum address you’d like to send funds to, and a little ETH for gas. All transactions require ETH for gas. We suggest having at least 0.01 ETH for 2 – 3 transactions.

– Note: If You plan to move large amounts of ETH or ERC20 tokens, we suggest sending a small amount first to make sure everything goes as planned.

Step 1: Access Your MyEtherWallet (MEW) Wallet

– Your wallet should automatically be opened on the ‘Send Transaction’ screen. If it’s not, You can find this area to the left of Your wallet overview page

Step 2: Fill In The Type Of Currency You’d like To send, The Amount And The Ethereum Wallet Address You’d Like To Send To

– Make sure to double and triple check the address you’re sending to! MyEtherWallet can not recover funds sent to the wrong address.

– When sending your entire balance of ETH, choose the ‘Send Entire Balance’ option, so your gas is auto-calculated out of the total.

– Gas and gas limit will auto-generate based on network congestion.

– If you don’t see the token you’d like to send, you may need to add it as a custom token.

Step 3: Click ‘Send Transaction’ And Confirm The Transaction On The Next Screen

– If you’re using MEWconnect or a hardware wallet, be sure to confirm the transaction on your device as well.

– Note: If You send a transaction by using MEWconnect, please watch this tutorial video:

Step 4: Check Status And History Of Transaction

– After Your transaction has posted! Copy Your transaction hash to check. Check Your transaction hash on Etherscan to make sure everything went through properly. Please read the tutorial as below

How To Check Your Transaction History And MyEtherWallet Wallet Balance?

It is not recommended to unlock Your wallet every time you’d like to check your balance, for the security of your information. Instead, you can see all balances and transaction history through the use of an Ethereum blockchain explorer, like Etherscan or Ethplorer. To check your balance, all you need is your public Ethereum address. This is 42 characters long and begins with an ‘0x….’.

Check with Etherscan

– Go to Etherscan.io

– In the search bar, enter Your Ethereum public address. You will be taken to wallet overview page.

– In the ‘Overview’ section, You will see Your ETH balance and value

– Under ‘Misc’: You can find your Token Balances. When looking for custom token information, this is where you can select a specific token to find its contract address, decimal count, and symbol.

– The tabs at the bottom of the screen show the history of ETH, ERC20 token and ERC721 token transactions.

Check with Ethplorer

– Go to Ethplorer.io

– In the search bar, enter Your Ethereum public address. You will be taken to wallet overview page.

– To the left, under ‘Address Information’: You can find Your ETH balance

– To the right, You can find your Token Balances. When looking for custom token information, this is where you can select a specific token to find its contract address, decimal count, and symbol.

– The bottom of the screen shows the history of ETH, ERC20 token and ERC721 token transactions. You can apply filters if You want to see just ETH or tokens, using tick marks at the top.

How To Add Custom Token Into MyEtherWallet Wallet?

First, Will You need to check token already listed in wallet interface? Any ERC20 token can be added to your local MEW interface by following these instructions.

Step 1: Access Your Wallet And Search Token

How To Create And Use MyEtherWallet (MEW) Wallet?

– At ‘Search Token’ box: Search default token list for the token You are looking for.

– If You don’t see Your token or You see the token, but don’t see a balance, it’s possible default listing is for a token with the same symbol but a different contract address. In this case, continue with next steps as if you didn’t see it in the list.

Step 2: Looking For The Token’s Information

You will need to find three informations to add a custom token in: the contract address, decimal count, and symbol. All of this information can be found via Etherscan.io or Ethplorer.io.

We will show how to find this via Etherscan.io

– Go to Etherscan.io

Security Caution

– Never share Keystore File, Mnemonic Phrase, Private Key And Password with anyone. These informations gives complete and permanent access to Your wallet.

– Do not keep this information on a device connected to the internet. Hackers can and will find it in Your hard drive.

– Choose strong passwords and write everything down, in multiple locations.

– MyEtherWallet (MEW) cannot recover these informations for You.
